List of Local Representative,

I am writing to you regarding the process of Medicaid and Disability.

The current laws and guild lines were set up to asset those during hardship, disabilities, and those on lower less-advantaged incomes.  Instead, these guide lines and processing procedures are currently discriminating and sabotaging those that need it.  The law needs to change to reflect the times, i.e. so that those that are needy, will not go homeless or suffer additional hardships due to its long processing methods. This needs to be changed as soon as possible.

There are Five distinct parts to the current problem: Which must be changed.

TIMELY PROCESSING IN DISABILITY: Too much time passes in the qualifying process for disability eligibility, creating long term difficulties for those who are needy; creating homelessness and additional hardships.  Many have to go through the process of applying 2 and 3 times, taking years to get that assistance they need, while creating additional long lines returning to the system for that process. Please make disability procedures faster.

ELIGIBILITY DISCRIMINATION IN DISABILITY:  Currently, there are two separate guidelines set for those who have disabilities.  One is for eligibly processing and another for after they become eligible, creating additional discrimination against those with disabilities, and creating homelessness for those that might could earn just a little, even though they could not work normal hours or normal jobs.  That by creating different standards for processing now, it creates discrimination in the due process of disability. The laws and guide lines are not set up for those to even show efforts prior to becoming eligible. This is unconstitutional and discriminating. These guidelines need to reflect the same, BEFORE AND AFTER in such due process in capabilities and eligibilities of such guidelines.

MEDICAID ELIGIBILITY PROCESSING IN SHARE OF COST:  If someone is eligible for Medicaid, especially those on a month to month plan, it can become impossible to get the covered medications and doctor appointment needed on a timely basis.  Please change these laws and guild lines so that should someone be eligible, it shows such during there WHOLE eligibility time within the computer system.  Without doing so, it creates hardships and in addition, the process creates overflow of paperwork and time within your own staff.  That if there is a share of cost, that whether a person has meet such share of cost, this be listed separately. By doing so, These people on such benefits  will be allowed medication and doctor appointments, showing receipts that they have meet this share of cost to you and or to the doctors itself, or through other means, through computer or telephone customer service entry personal.  People now have to wait up to 10 days before coverage shows in the computer. This currently is sabotaging those who have meet share of cost, by not showing eligibility for 10 business days while they are being entered into the computer, they cannot get what they are eligible for during this time.  When this happens in the middle of the month, they aurally are losing up to 10 days of coverage.  That is too much time lost of benefits on a month to month share of cost.  The current laws are not realistic for those that might need medical care during half the month, on a share of cost due to its long processing.

PROVIDED DOCTORS: If someone needs a specialist, or dentist, it is getting to hard to find doctors that accept Medicaid. Too many doctors change over and are dripping out of the system with Medicaid.  The guild lines must change to work with these doctors more so that there are dentist and specialist in different fields within an area range for medically needy VS those in the system area on such plans.  Changes must be made to keep the doctor you have in place, and so that there will be more different fields of specialist available to those that need them.

DENTISTRY: There is currently no dental coverage for those in need as an adult. It was taken out of the program this past year.  Please return this along with preventive care for such.  Basic and preventive dentistry is needed for those on low income and those that are medical needy. Periodontal is needed for those with any form of health risk. Without it, many additional health conditions can arise from those with health problems.

When writing each of these new Bills, please factor the additional assistance for single head of households, awaiting disability into the equation.

Sincerely,

I am writing to you regarding the process of Periodontal Disease.

There is not enough current laws concerning periodontal disease. Not enough information is given out to patients from their doctors.  This disease creates additional health risk factors untreated. In addition, more education needs to be enforced in the dental practice.  That such condition is medically necessary.

There are two distinct parts to the current problem: Which must be changed.

Medically Necessary: Periodontal disease creates additional health risk factors untreated. Please change health laws so that periodontal disease must be covered in dental plans as well as major medical plans.  That such condition is medically necessary.

Dental Preventive Care in Periodontal Disease: Many dentist do not screen or refer out those that are at risk for periodontal disease. Please change the law so that screening for such disease is part of preventive care. That those who are more of a risk, are covered in preventive care for additional deep cleaning and educational preventive care. By doing so, it will create more awareness to the serious of such disease, provide preventive treatment, and will eliminate many additional health problems caused by this disease.  Please change these laws to reflect such preventive care.

As my state representative, I ask that you make Periodontal Disease Patient's Bill of Rights one of your concerns.  When writing this new Bill please factor in at least a 50% limitation in coverage for such into the equation.

Sincerely,
